Dr Oz recreated the New York Pizza to be healthy with the help of Liz Josefsberg, a Weight Watchers Leader. Instead of having meat on the pizza, it is loaded with veggies. And the regular white dough crust is replaced by a whole wheat pizza crust. Best of all, it is healthy and delicious at the same time. Here is the full recipe:

Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.
2. Roll your ball of whole wheat dough on a floured surface and cut it into a 12 inch circle. Keep in mind that the edges should be a bit thicker so that you can make the crust of the pizza.
3. Lightly oil a baking sheet and put the pizza dough onto it.
4. Bake the pizza dough for 7-10 minutes or until it is light brown.
5. Flip the crust over in the pan.
6. Cover the crust with the crushed tomatoes and salt and pepper as desired.
7. Add all of your favorite vegetables such as mushrooms, spinach, onions and peppers.
8. Place the mozzarella and pecorino romano on top of the veggies on the crust.
9. Bake form 10-15 minutes or until the cheese melts and the vegetables are cooked to your taste.
10. Sprinkle fresh basil on top of the pizza and serve warm!

I’d be interested in knowing how many calories are in the NY Veggie Pizza. Odd that is not shown.

Didn’t like it……….DIDN’T like it at all. Think I will forego the recommendation on the soy burgers. LOVE DR. OZ but will be very choosey about some of future recipes that are recommended. I will, however, try the veggie pizza at one of the local restaurants. It will be cheaper, and perhaps tastier, than trying to do this at home.
