Dr Oz’s $1 Diet was a great segment on the Dr Oz Show. The Deen Brothers (Paula Deen’s sons) joined Doctor Oz to teach him how to make what they call Bobby’s Goulash Recipe. I think this is a very child friendly recipe, and mom-friendly too since you can cook it in a crockpot and come home to a finished meal! I cannot wait to try all of Jamie & Bobby Deen’s $1 Diet Recipe!
Dr Oz & Bobby Dean’s Goulash Recipe
Ingredients:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 lbs (lean) ground beef
2 (14 1/2-oz) cans tomato sauce
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup frozen corn kernels, thawed
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp dried basil
1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
3/4 tsp garlic powder
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
4 1/2 cups cooked whole-wheat noodles
Directions:
1. Heat your skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
2. Cook the ground beef and break it up while it cooks. The beef should be browned in about 10 minutes.
3. Place the ground beef in a crock pot with diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic, onion, corn, soy sauce, basil, oregano, garlic powder, pepper and salt.
4. Cover the crockpot and let it cook on high for 2 hours or on low for four hours.
5. Serve the goulash on top of whole wheat pasta.

Fascinating! We started purchasing whole cows from the local farm last year, and it’s working out really well for us. We found a great website with lots of great dishes like this meat recipes to keep us going.

We do the same too, buying beef whole from the local farmer. I like to support them, even if it is a more expesnive than the shop, because I know exactly how and where it is made, I know I’m not contributing to global warming or something.
