Dr Oz gave a great substitution for a diet friendly and delicious snack – Roasted Chickpeas!  I actually read about a similar recipe in one of Martha Stewart’s books, and my friend made the recipe and loved it, so this is definitely on my list to try.  Instead of snacking on nuts, Doctor Oz said that you can eat about three times as much Roasted Chickpeas and have the same amount of calories – and who does not love to Eat More & Weigh Less!

Dr Oz: Roasted Chickpea Recipe Ingredients:

Chickpeas (canned)

Olive oil

Salt

Cayenne Pepper

Dr Oz: Chickpea Snack Recipe Directions:

1.  Drain the chickpeas well and rinse the chickpeas to get rid of the goo found on the inside of cans of chickpeas.

2.  Toss the chickpeas in olive oil, salt and cayenne.  If cayenne is too spicy for you, try other spices like garlic powder or onion powder.

3.  Place the chickpeas on a cookie sheet in a single layer.

4.  Roast the chickpeas for an hour at 400 degrees – shaking the pan several times throughout the cooking process.
