Dr Oz gave Taylor Swift a health recipe called “The Swift Shake” recipe so that she could have healthy snacks when she is on-the-go (which I imagine is probably all of the time!). This recipe reminds me a lot of my childhood, where I would love sticking a spoon into a jar of peanut butter and just snacking on that. But now Doctor Oz has added honey, ground flax seed, dried cranberries and dark chocolate chips to the peanut butter… how delicious does that sound? I am not 100% convinced that this is the healthiest snack, but I suppose that if you eat it in small quantities (just a few peanut butter clusters at a time), then it is not so bad for you. It is definitely healthier than a lot of candy and snack options in the aisles of your grocery store.
Dr Oz: The Swift Shake Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 cup 100% natural peanut butter or almond butter
1 tbsp honey
1 1/2 cups ground flax seed
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
Directions:
Mix everything together and scoop it out into clusters that you can eat with a spoon. Or better yet, just eat it by the spoonful like we did when we were children!

Just made the Dr. Oz Taylor Swift “shake” after seeing it on his show. I first read a little bit about ground or milled flax seed, and will repeat the precaution that I found, which was that when consuming flax seed products you should drink lots of water, because it could lead to a bowel obstruction if you don’t. Other than that. how this could in any way be called a “shake” I don’t know, because it is obviously a very thick mixture and not easy to blend manually. Use a larger container than you’d expect to to avoid getting ground flax seeds all over your counter. I also think that a teaspoon of vanilla adds to the flavor, but that’s a personal preference. If you shape the end mixture into small balls or cubes, coating them with a light dusting of powdered sugar would keep them from sticking together, though, of course, that’s not terribly nutritious. Nor would adding the amount of chocolate chips I’d prefer, but even without extras, the blend of flavors is quite acceptable, and I hate most things that are healthy.
