Ingrid Hoffmann’s Mini Cuban “Fritas” (Burgers) Recipe: Dr Oz
Doctor Oz brought Ingrid Hoffmann, author of Simply Delicioso: A Collection of Everyday Recipes with a Latin Twist, on his show to teach us how to make Mini Cuban “Fritas” Burgers in her Better By Half Segment. Dr. Oz and Ingrid Hoffmann had a Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie Recipe and a Broccoli and Celery Slaw Recipe too.
Mini Cuban “Fritas” Burgers Recipe by Ingrid Hoffmann
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups dried bread crumbs
¼ cup whole milk
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground turkey
1 large yellow onion, grated on the large hole side of a box grater
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 tbsp fresh lime juice (from about 1 lime)
3 tbsp ketchup, plus extra for serving
3 garlic cloves, finely minced
¾ tsp paprika
Freshly ground pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
12 mini hamburger rolls or Cuban rolls
Shoestring potato sticks or chips for serving.
Directions:
1. Cover the bread crumbs with milk in a large bowl for a couple of minutes.
2. Mix the ground beef, ground turkey , beaten egg, lime juice, onion, garlic, ketchup, paprika and pepper until combined.
3. Form 12 patties that are 1″ thick and refrigerate them for 45 minutes to 8 hours.
4. Cook in a skillet over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes per side.
5. Serve the fritas on the rolls with ketchup and french fries or potato chips.
Frankly, I am not sure how great this diet is for losing weight, however it is a great treat and won’t destroy your diet. The healthy dieting tip is basically to combine ground beef with ground turkey to cut down on calories and fat – a great Weight Loss Tip!
