Ingrid Hoffmann’s Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie Recipe: Dr Oz
Doctor Oz brought Ingrid Hoffmann, author of Simply Delicioso: A Collection of Everyday Recipes with a Latin Twist, on his show to teach us how to make healthy summertime recipes like this Chocolate Oatmeal Recipe – on the Dr Oz segment called Better By Half. Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie Recipe by Ingrid Hoffman
Ingredients:
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
½ cup organic sugar (or any granular natural sweetener)
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup whole wheat flour, sifted
1 1/2 cups rolled oats (not instant)
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp cinnamon
½ cup dark chocolate chips, semi-sweet
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Mix together the applesauce and sugar until it turns creamy. Add honey, vanilla, an egg and olive oil to the mixture. Mix well.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, rolld oats, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.
4. Slowly mix the flour mixture into the wet bowl of ingredients.
5. Mix in the dark chocolate chips.
6. Drop teaspoons of cookie dough onto baking sheets covered in parchment paper.
7. Bake for 12 – 15 minutes or until browned and crispy.
The big healthy diet tip here is to cut back on sugar by using applesauce instead and to use dark chocolate chips (70% cocoa or higher) instead of milk chocolate chips – great Weight Loss Tips!
