Dr Oz Sausage & Peppers Recipe

Dr Oz was joined by David Held, who was a former patient of his.  After going through heart bypass surgery, Held changed around his life to be healthier.  He started coming up with Diet Recipes for his favorite foods like this Turkey Sausage and Peppers Recipe.  It sounds like a fabulous Diet Recipe alternative to the usual sausage and peppers recipe that people so commonly make.

Dr Oz Turkey Sausage & Peppers Recipe

Ingredients:

1 package sweet Italian-style turkey sausage

4 bell peppers (red, yellow, green or orange), sliced 1/8 inches thick and then cut in half

1 very large sweet onion (Vidalia or Spanish), sliced 1/8 thick and then cut in half

1 (28 oz) can of Italian crushed tomatoes

3 tbsp of Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp of crushed red pepper flakes

Salt and pepper to taste

Fat-free non-stick canola spray

Diet Sausage & Peppers Recipe

Directions:

1.  Spray a non-stick pan with non-stick cooking spray.

2.  Warm the pan up over medium heat.

3.  Brown the sausages on all sides in the pan.

4.  Drain the grease from the pan.

5.  Spray the pan with more non-stick spray and cook the onions with a touch of salt and pepper for about 5 minutes.

6.  Add the peppers to the pan and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

7.  Cut the Turkey Sausage into slices and cook them with the peppers and onions.

8.  Add a can of crushed tomatoes to your pan along with red pepper flakes and Italian Seasoning.

9.  Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes.

10.  Serve with a side of brown rice and salad.
